DityMovers is an independent informational guide, written and maintained by a military family, not a company selling moving services. We do not run advertisements. We do not have agreements with moving companies or other businesses, including discount arrangements. Company names appear on this site only to explain the categories of options available to you — a rental truck company, a You-Pack/We-Drive provider, a full-service mover — not as a ranked or paid recommendation. We do not offer or guarantee discounts through this site; always compare current terms directly with providers.
This site has existed in different forms over a long history, and older commercial arrangements or promotional language from earlier versions do not reflect the site as it operates today. If you find a page that still reads like a live offer or partnership, treat it as outdated and let us know.
What we base guidance on
Where this guide states a rule or number, we try to trace it to a current official source rather than an old handout or personal recollection. The sources we draw on most:
- The Joint Travel Regulations (JTR), updated monthly, for entitlement rules
- Military OneSource and the Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS) for process and payment administration
- IRS publications (Armed Forces' Tax Guide, W-2/W-3 instructions, Publication 15) for tax treatment
- The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) for interstate consumer-moving protections
- The actual equipment manufacturer or provider (U-Haul, U-Pack, appliance makers, etc.) for equipment-specific instructions
Regulations and rates change — the JTR alone is revised monthly. When a claim can't be verified against a current source, we try to remove the false certainty and point you to the decision question or official destination instead of inventing a rule.
Keeping content current
This site does not have a large editorial staff or a formal publishing schedule. We revise pages when we identify outdated information, when official sources change in a way that affects the guidance here, or when a reader flags something. The site underwent a substantial content review in September 2026. We do not claim every page is reviewed on a fixed cadence, and we'd rather say that plainly than imply a diligence we can't back up.
