Independent guide to military PPM / DITY moves — not an official government site About this site

About

This page gives basic information about DityMovers.com and the reasons it was created.

With a large share of active-duty military moving every year, it's surprising how much misinformation exists about the government's Personally Procured Move (PPM) program — still widely known by its older name, DITY (Do-It-Yourself). This site exists to help dispel the myths, explain the options, and offer practical advice from people who have done their own PPM/DITY moves.

The content on this site was written by an active-duty and veteran military family who have performed their own partial and full PPM/DITY moves and learned a few lessons worth sharing — including the step-by-step story of one of those moves.

Our goal is to help you understand the overall PPM/DITY process so you can make an informed decision about whether to use it, and to help you avoid unpleasant, costly mistakes along the way.

Not an official government site — use at your own risk

This site is not affiliated with the Department of Defense and has no insight into the status of individual reimbursement claims. It is provided for general informational purposes only, is not legal, tax, or financial advice, and may contain outdated or inaccurate information — government programs, forms, discount offers, and requirements all change over time, sometimes without notice. Verify anything that matters to your move directly with your TMO/JPPSO or the official Military OneSource resources before you rely on it. If anything here ever conflicts with current official guidance, the official guidance wins.

We wish you the best of luck with your move!
